01 What does the name Marj mean?
Marj is the Arabic word for a meadow. A meadow is dozens of things growing at once with no arrangement and no focal point, which describes a composition of twenty-seven materials exactly.
02 How long does Marj perfume oil last?
A long time, and it builds before it fades. Leather, sandalwood, amber, musk and ambrette all evaporate slowly, and oil carries no alcohol to lift the lighter materials away. Expect Marj perfume oil to reach full strength around the first hour.
03 Why do some perfumes use so many notes?
To build something that unfolds rather than announces. Most compositions use eight to fifteen materials because lean is cheaper and easier to balance. Twenty-seven means no single material dominates and the fragrance keeps shifting for hours.
04 Is Marj perfume oil animalic?
Slightly, and more so on some skin. Jasmine and orange blossom both produce indole, which turns animal at higher levels, and ambrette adds a skin-like warmth on top. The oud is not responsible, since the agarwood here reads resinous and sweet.

Ambrette is the only plant that smells genuinely musky, taken from the seed of a hibiscus relative grown in India, Ecuador and Madagascar. It carries a fruity brandy-ish edge most people read as pear, which is why pear sits beside it in the base of Marj.
