04 Is the pineapple in perfume real?
No. Pineapple is mostly water and its aroma sits in quantities too small to extract economically. Perfumers build the note from esters, chiefly allyl hexanoate, which read bright and juicy. Every pineapple you have ever smelled in a fragrance came from a laboratory.
05 Why do pineapple and smoke work together?
They are chemical opposites. Pineapple esters are small, volatile and bright. Smoke molecules from birch, vetiver and moss are heavy and slow. Neither overwhelms the other.
06 What is cashmeran?
A laboratory molecule that corresponds to nothing in nature. Cashmeran smells musky, woody and faintly spicy at the same time, and perfumers use it to soften and blur a base. In Ananas Absolu it wraps the vetiver and oakmoss in something warmer.
