What does Raghba Wood Intense smell like?

Raghba Wood Intense gives caramel and smoke in the same first breath. Licorice runs underneath, reading closer to anise than to candy, while cedar sharpens the edges and stops the sugar spreading.

Oud arrives early in Raghba Wood Intense, because of where it sits. This is the smooth, sweet, faintly medicinal kind rather than the barnyard kind, and sandalwood with cashmere wood soften it into something creamy.

Raghba Wood Intense keeps that sweetness and builds a forest around it. Same family, considerably more structure, and far more going on after the first hour.

Ameer Al Oudh Intense Oud takes the third road. Saffron and nutmeg open it, geranium and labdanum fill the middle, and the base is oud, vanilla and leather. It is the spicy, leathery cousin rather than the smoky, woody one.

All three are sweet ouds, which is why people who like one usually like the others. Choose by what surrounds the sweetness: incense in the original, smoke and wood in this one, spice and leather in Ameer Al Oudh.

How long does Raghba Wood Intense last, and when should you wear it?

Almost nothing in the Raghba Wood Intense formula is volatile. Guaiac, agarwood, sandalwood, amber, oakmoss, vanilla and musk are all slow, heavy materials, and only the caramel moves at any speed. 

Autumn and winter suit it, along with any cold evening. Heat makes the caramel and oud turn heavy within an hour, which is the one situation where this bottle works against you.

Who should buy Raghba Wood Intense, and who should skip it?

Buy Raghba Wood Intense if you liked the original and wanted more backbone, or if sweet oud appeals to you and you would rather have it smoky than plain. It reads as unisex in the Gulf and slightly masculine in Europe, which is true of most sweet oud.

This structure is also why the bottle outperforms its price. Nearly every material in it is a heavy, long-life one, and heavy materials are precisely what people pay for in expensive woody fragrances. Very little here disappears in the first hour. Skip it if you want something fresh, summery or quiet enough for close desks.
