What does Badee Al Oud Black Exposed smell like?

What is Healingwood in Perfumery? 

Healingwood is not a wood. It is a trade name from the fragrance house IFF, and the plant behind it is Pogostemon cablin, which is patchouli.

IFF hydro-distils the stems and leaves, then fractionally distils and crystallises what comes out. Around two hundred and fifty kilos of plant material yield one kilo of the finished product.

What that process concentrates is patchouli alcohol, the compound carrying most of patchouli's character. IFF describes the result as a powerful woody note with an earthy, humid quality and a clean camphor top over moss.

So the one wood in the middle of Badee Al Oud Black Exposed is purified patchouli. It is also the only material running back to the original, which carries patchouli through its heart and base as well.
