HAWAS FIRE Edp

Rasasi Hawas Fire: An Aquatic Amber With No Smoke In It

Hawas Fire by Rasasi is an aquatic amber: French clary sage on top, Egyptian jasmine and a marine accord in the heart, ambergris and mineral amber underneath. Despite the name there is no smoke, no spice and no charred wood anywhere in it. It smells of warm salt air rather than of anything burning.

The heat in Hawas Fire comes from amber materials instead of fire. The fragrance also holds together for a reason the note list hides: its top note and its base trace back to the same plant, two chemical steps apart.

Rasasi HAWAS FIRE Fragrance Notes:

  • Top Notes: Clary Sage.
  • Middle Notes: Marine notes, Egyptian Jasmine.
  • Base Notes: Amber, Mineral notes, Ambergris.

Five notes in Hawas Fire, and three of them pull the same way. Clary sage, ambergris and mineral amber all belong to the amber family, which is why the fragrance reads as one continuous smell rather than three stages.

Hawas Fire: the short version

  • Profile: Herbal clary sage, salty marine air, soft jasmine, warm dry ambergris.
  • Sweetness: 2 out of 10. Dry throughout, with no sugar anywhere.
  • Strength: An amber base built for long wear. Powerful materials, used straight.
  • Best for: Daytime, office, spring and summer, hot climates. 100 ml eau de parfum, launched 2025.
  • Skip if: The name made you expect spice, smoke or heat.

What does Hawas Fire smell like?

The Hawas Fire opening is herbal and clean. Clary sage has a dry, faintly winey quality, closer to crushed leaves than to a herb garden, and it sets a serious tone within seconds.

The marine accord takes over the middle. It is the salty, airy kind rather than the sweet melon kind, and Egyptian jasmine softens it just enough to keep it from smelling like shower gel.

The base is where Hawas Fire earns its name. Ambergris and mineral amber give a warm, dry, faintly salty glow that stays close to the skin. Hours in, it smells like sun on skin after a day by the sea.

Why does a fragrance called Fire smell like the sea?

Read the Hawas Fire list again: clary sage, jasmine, marine, ambergris, mineral amber. Nothing in it burns. No pepper, no incense, no smoked wood, no leather.

The Hawas range built its reputation on fresh aquatic fragrances, and this release is a flanker inside that range rather than a break from it. The name marks a position in the line and a bottle colour, not the contents.

Where the Hawas Fire name does make sense is the warmth. Amber materials give heat without smoke, a dry glowing skin-like warmth that reads as temperature rather than combustion. Think sun, not flame.

What are ambergris and mineral amber?

Ambergris itself comes from whales. It forms inside the sperm whale, washes up at sea, and is rare, costly and legally restricted in several countries, including a trade ban in the United States.

Almost every modern ambergris note is therefore a synthetic, usually ambroxan or one of its relatives. It delivers the warm, salty, skin-like effect without the whale. Ambrofix, the sugarcane-derived version used in Hersh Mehwar, belongs to the same family.

Mineral amber, the other base note in Hawas Fire, is a description rather than an ingredient. It names the dry, stony, salt-on-rock side of those materials, as opposed to the sweet vanilla amber of oriental perfumery. It is why this fragrance stays dry instead of turning sweet.

Here is the detail that ties the whole thing together. Ambroxan is made from sclareol, and sclareol comes from clary sage. The herb in the top note is the raw material for the amber in the base: two ends of one pyramid, one plant.

How long does Hawas Fire last, and when should you wear it?

Amber materials rank among the most tenacious in perfumery, and Hawas Fire rests on them. Clary sage and the marine accord move fast. The base does not.

Spring and summer daytime is the natural home for Hawas Fire, and hot weather suits it best, since warmth lifts salt and amber rather than flattening them. It also works in an office, because there is no sweetness to carry across a room.

Two sprays of Hawas Fire is enough. Ambroxan-type materials are powerful, and more of them does not read as richer, only louder.

Who should buy Hawas Fire, and who should skip it?

Buy Hawas Fire if you want a clean, salty, grown-up aquatic with more warmth than the usual fresh fragrance. It is genuinely unisex. Nothing in sage, sea air and amber leans male or female, whatever the box says.

Skip it if you were promised smoke and spice by the name, because neither is there. Skip it too if ambroxan-heavy bases smell thin or scratchy on you, since this one leans on them hard.

For the same amber family in a dry woody setting, Moondrift Blue Intense pairs it with grapefruit and frankincense. Hawas Gold Digger is the other release from this line we have covered in full.

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about shipping, authenticity, and caring for your fragrance.

01 Is Hawas Fire good for summer?
Yes, and that is where it belongs. Salt, sage and amber all behave well in heat, and the absence of sweetness keeps it comfortable on hot skin.
02 Does Hawas Fire contain real ambergris?
Almost certainly not, and nor do most fragrances listing the note. Natural ambergris is rare, expensive and restricted in several markets, so perfumers use ambroxan and related materials instead.
03 Is Hawas Fire the same as Hawas for Him?
They are different fragrances that share a family name. Check the full name and the bottle before ordering, since the Hawas range now runs to several releases with similar packaging.
04 Does Hawas Fire smell smoky?
No. There is no smoke, spice or burnt wood in the composition. The warmth comes from ambergris and mineral amber, which smell dry and skin-like rather than charred.
