Lattafa Opulent Milano 100ml: What It Smells Like

Lattafa Opulent Milano is a 100ml eau de parfum that smells fresh, green and lightly peppery. Bergamot, pink pepper and timur open it. Then rose, blackcurrant and geranium form a tart green heart. Finally vetiver, cedarwood and a warm amber wood close it.

There is rose in it, and it still does not smell like a rose fragrance. That is the most useful thing to know before you buy, so it is worth explaining properly.

The short version

  • What it is: A 100ml eau de parfum, marketed to men.
  • Smells like: Zesty pepper and bergamot, then tart green rose, then dry vetiver and cedar.
  • Character: Clean and polished. Fresh without being sporty.
  • Wear it: Work, daytime, spring and summer, warm weather.
  • Worth knowing: The rose does not read as floral. The green notes take care of that.

Lattafa OPULENT MILANO Fragrance Notes:

  • Top Notes: Black currant, Timur, Lemon.
  • Heart Notes: Rose Oil, Rhubarb, Green Notes.
  • Base Notes: Vetiver, Cedarwood, Amber, Cashmeran.

Nine notes, three per tier, and each tier does one clear job. Citrus and pepper, then tart green floral, then dry woods.

Timur is the one worth seeking out again if you like it. It is uncommon in perfumery and it is what gives the opening its grapefruit-like sparkle without any grapefruit in the list.

There is also a small Italian joke in the name worth pointing out. Very little about this fragrance is Italian, except the bergamot and almost all the world's bergamot is grown in Calabria. So the most Italian thing in Opulent Milano is the first note you smell.

What Lattafa Opulent Milano smells like

Bergamot opens it bright and clean. Pink pepper arrives with a rosy fizz, and timur sits beside it adding something unexpected. Timur is a pepper grown in Nepal, and what makes it unusual is that it smells of grapefruit peel rather than heat.

So the opening is zesty and peppery at the same time, which is more interesting than a plain citrus start.

Then the heart arrives and stays tart. Rose is fresh and green here rather than jammy. Blackcurrant adds a sharp fruity bite, while geranium brings a green leafy quality with a rosy edge of its own.

Finally the base dries everything out. Vetiver gives a dry rooty earthiness, cedarwood adds a clean pencil-shaving woodiness, and a warm amber wood note softens the edges. Lattafa Opulent Milano finishes polished and close to the skin.

Why the rose in Lattafa Opulent Milano does not smell floral

Because of what surrounds it. Rose on its own can read sweet and old-fashioned. Here it sits boxed in by blackcurrant on one side and geranium on the other.

Blackcurrant is tart and slightly green, so it pulls the rose away from sweetness. Geranium is green and leafy with a rosy edge, so it stretches the rose outwards into something herbal rather than deepening it.

Underneath, vetiver and cedar are both dry. Nothing in the base is sweet or powdery, which is usually what makes a rose fragrance read as feminine.

That is worth knowing because plenty of men skip anything with rose in the note list. Rose is in half of modern masculine perfumery, and arranged like this you would never pick it out.

Opulent Milano or Opulent Oud?

They share a collection name and nothing else. One is fresh and one is dark, so this is an easy decision once you know.

Lattafa Opulent Milano is the fresh one. Bergamot, pepper and tart green rose over dry vetiver and cedar make it a daytime and warm weather fragrance. It is also comfortable in an office.

Opulent Oud is the warm one. Saffron and cinnamon over oud and rose, finishing on amber and cedar, make it an evening and cold weather scent. Both contain rose, but they use it in completely different ways.

Buy Milano for daytime and Oud for evenings. The Opulent name tells you nothing about which is which, so go by the notes.

Who should buy Lattafa Opulent Milano, and who should not

Buy it if you want a clean fresh fragrance for work that is not another plain citrus. The pepper and timur opening gives it character, while the dry woody base keeps it close enough for a shared office.

It also suits warm weather particularly well. Vetiver, cedar and green notes all hold up in heat, where sweet or spiced fragrances quickly turn heavy.

Do not buy it if you want something rich or warm. Nothing in this composition is sweet, and the whole thing is built to stay dry and green.

Skip it too if you dislike vetiver or geranium. Both are prominent, and together they give the fragrance the green character that defines it.

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about shipping, authenticity, and caring for your fragrance.

01 What does Lattafa Opulent Milano smell like?
Bright bergamot with pink pepper and grapefruit-like timur, then tart rose, blackcurrant and green geranium, finishing on dry vetiver and cedarwood.

No. Blackcurrant and geranium keep the rose tart and green, and the dry woody base has nothing sweet or powdery in it.

Milano is fresh, green and woody for daytime. Opulent Oud is warm, spiced and oud-based for evenings. They share only the collection name.
