Rayhaan is run by Khalid Kalsekar, son of a Rasasi director, grandson of the man who founded Rasasi in 1979. Third-generation Dubai perfumery, but working alone: despite the constant confusion, Rayhaan is an independent company, not a Rasasi sub-brand.

Starting from nothing in 2022 against houses with decades of shelf presence, he did the obvious thing. Flood every category. Price everything under €40. Let the sheer number of bottles do the work a marketing budget normally does.

It worked. Rayhaan went from unknown to unavoidable in three years. But a catalogue built at that speed cannot be uniformly good, and pretending otherwise helps nobody.

Pharaoh, the one that shouldn't be this good

Tied for the highest-rated Rayhaan release of the year at 8.1/10, and it costs about €30. That combination is unusual enough to be suspicious, so it deserves explaining.

Pharaoh opens smoky and boozy, saffron, cardamom, and cade oil, which is the tarry, campfire-adjacent material that gives it that slightly medicinal edge on first spray. Then it softens considerably. Suede, coffee, and benzoin move in, and it finishes on vanilla, tonka, and labdanum: warm, resinous, faintly gourmand without turning into dessert.

The catch is that it does not present well immediately. Several buyers report disliking their first wear, then coming around completely after a few weeks. If you spray it once and shelve it, you have wasted the money.

Verdict: the best value in the catalogue. Autumn and winter only.

Azul, the most divisive bottle Rayhaan has made

Also 8.1/10, and simultaneously the most disliked release of the year. Both things are true, which tells you everything about who it is for.

The composition is deliberately thin: lemon and bergamot, grapefruit blossom, then calone and sandalwood. Calone is the molecule responsible for that clean, watery, slightly melon-like freshness in nearly every aquatic since the nineties. There is no development here, no story, no third act. It smells bright and clean and then it keeps smelling bright and clean.

Half the audience calls it summer in a bottle. The other half finds it synthetic and hollow, one reviewer compared it to bathroom cleaner, which is harsh but not incomprehensible given how linear it is.

Verdict: excellent if you want uncomplicated freshness for hot days. Actively wrong if you want a fragrance that goes somewhere.

Cedrus Blanc, the quiet one that beat the loud ones

If you buy exactly one Rayhaan this year, buy this.

It is the most restrained thing the house has produced, and that restraint is the point. Aldehydes and bergamot open it with a soft, slightly powdery lift, aldehydes being those airy, almost soapy materials that made classic French perfumery smell expensive. Orange blossom carries the middle. Cedarwood and white musk close it out clean.

Wearers describe it as smooth from the first spray, comforting rather than attention-seeking, and still faintly present the next morning. In a catalogue built on volume and projection, Rayhaan accidentally made something with taste.

Verdict: the only genuinely seasonless bottle they own. Office-safe, year-round, hard to dislike.

Which New Rayhaan Perfumes Should You Skip?

Not skip outright, in most cases, but do not blind buy.

Nava Sol is the year's genuine risk. It opens on sapodilla, a tropical fruit essentially unused in Western perfumery, paired with ambrette's vegetal musk. Early testers describe something they have never smelled before, with one landing on bubblegum. Magnolia, violet, and sandalwood follow, then musk and ambergris.

Novelty hunters like it. Everyone else prefers Cedrus Blanc, including several people who bought both. Sample first.

Wolf is three notes total, cardamom, toffee, amberwood, and lives or dies entirely on whether you want to smell like toffee. Dense and sweet, built for nights out, pointless in July.

Pacific Aloha is fruit-forward holiday juice with an odd cacao thread underneath. Fun, not serious.

Tonquin Giza is almond, coumarin, tonka and vanilla, comfortable, powdery, and the least surprising thing on this list.

Nocturno Elixir is the outlier: strong reviews, real performance, and one tester reporting eight to ten hours on skin with eighteen-plus on fabric. It is also the most expensive at around €40, which puts it in a fight it does not need to be in.

The Thing Nobody Tells You About Rayhaan

Most Rayhaan bottles arrive underperforming, and it is not a defect.

The pattern shows up across the catalogue with unusual consistency: buyers report weak projection and short longevity on arrival, then dramatically better performance four to six weeks later. Terra, Pharaoh, and Rayhaan Elixir all draw this comment repeatedly.

This is maceration, the fragrance oils and alcohol continuing to integrate after bottling. Every perfume does it. Fast-moving houses just ship sooner, so more of that process happens on your shelf instead of in their warehouse.

Practical consequence: never judge a Rayhaan in its first week. Spray it once, put it away, and come back in a month. The number of one-star reviews written by people who did not know this is genuinely large.

The second thing worth knowing is less charming. Batch code irregularities have appeared on legitimate stock, at least one buyer found a Terra bottle with no serial number at all, attributed to a factory quality-control lapse rather than counterfeiting. Are Rayhaan Perfumes Good, or Just Well Marketed?

Rayhaan has leaned on fragrance creators harder than almost any comparable house, including flying influencers to Egypt for the Pharaoh launch. The criticism writes itself: fund someone's trip and their review is compromised.

That concern is legitimate and worth holding. The counterpoint reported within the industry is that Rayhaan attached no conditions, creators said what they thought. Coverage from that period does include unflattering verdicts, which supports the claim.

The brand has also gone further than sponsorship. Tiger Cal Cologne Edition, an extrait released in 2025, is named for the fragrance reviewer it was made with, an actual collaboration rather than a paid post.

Here is the honest read. Rayhaan's marketing is loud, and some of the hype is manufactured. The fragrances underneath are still frequently good. Both can be true, and the 7.4 average is roughly where an unsentimental assessment lands: better than the sceptics claim, worse than launch week suggests.

You want the most interesting composition they own → Terra. Twenty-one declared notes, real oud in the base, smoky and resinous. The most ambitious thing Rayhaan has attempted.

You want a holiday scent → Aquatica, from 2025. Lime and coconut milk over rum, tonka and patchouli. Still better than either 2026 aquatic.

You want to be surprised → Nava Sol, knowing the risk.
