Mahd Al Dhahab Extrait: The Same Note List as the Eau de Parfum, in a Smaller Bottle

Mahd Al Dhahab Extrait is a 2026 unisex extrait de parfum from Arabiyat Prestige, the Dubai house inside the My Perfumes group, sold in a 60 ml bottle. Grapefruit, bergamot, red fruits and juniper berry open it. Clary sage, cypress and ginger run through the middle. Sandalwood, patchouli, vanilla and amber close it.

There is a second product with the same name, and the distinction matters before you buy. The brand also sells a 100 ml eau de parfum from 2025, and it publishes exactly the same eleven notes for both.

Mahd Al Dhahab Extrait: the short version

  • What it is: Mahd Al Dhahab Extrait is a 60 ml unisex extrait de parfum from 2026.
  • Smells like: Bright grapefruit and berries over a dry herbal heart, closing warm and boozy.
  • Notes verified from: The brand’s own store, confirmed against the fragrance databases. Several retailers carry a different and wrong list.
  • Not to be confused with: A separate eau de parfum at 100 ml, released a year earlier, with an identical published pyramid.
  • Best for: Evenings, cooler months, and anyone who found the eau de parfum too light.

Arabiyat Prestige MAHD AL DHAHABExtrait Fragrance Notes:

  • Top Notes: Grapefruit, Bergamot, Red Berries, Juniper Berry.
  • Heart Notes: Clary Sage, Cypress, Ginger.
  • Base Notes: Sandalwood, Patchouli, Vanilla, Amber.

That list comes from the brand’s own store page for Mahd Al Dhahab Extrait. The fragrance databases carry a longer version, adding lemon, petitgrain, tea, incense, guaiac wood, ambroxan and musk. It contains all eleven notes above rather than contradicting them.

A third list circulates on several retail sites, built on bergamot, spices, amber, oud and white musk. Oud appears in neither the brand’s list nor the databases, which is the clearest sign that version is filler rather than fact.

What does Mahd Al Dhahab Extrait smell like?

Mahd Al Dhahab Extrait opens bright and slightly jammy. Grapefruit and bergamot give it a sharp citrus lift, with red fruits adding a sweet berry weight behind them. Juniper berry brings a dry gin-like edge that stops the fruit turning syrupy.

The middle is herbal rather than floral, which is the unusual part. Clary sage is nutty and faintly tobacco-like, cypress adds a cool green resinous thread, and ginger keeps a warm spice running underneath. Nothing here is sweet.

The Mahd Al Dhahab Extrait drydown is where the brand’s own description earns its wording. Vanilla and amber bring the sweetness back, sandalwood gives it a creamy body, and patchouli adds earth. The house calls the character boozy, and the combination of berries, vanilla and amber is where that reading comes from.

The published accords run woody first, then fruity and amber. Mahd Al Dhahab Extrait is warm and rounded rather than sharp, and the citrus opening is the shortest part of it.

The extrait and the eau de parfum share one note list

Set the two Mahd Al Dhahab Extrait and eau de parfum pages side by side on the brand’s store and the Fragrance Notes section is identical. Same four top notes, same three in the heart, same four in the drydown. The house makes no claim that the compositions differ.

It describes the newer bottle as the Mahd character taken to its richest form, and says the extrait pushes the original’s boozy side further. That is a statement about strength, not about ingredients.

So this is the opposite of the usual flanker pattern. Most Gulf releases that share a name turn out to share very little once you compare the pyramids. Mahd Al Dhahab Extrait appears to be the same perfume at a higher concentration, which is what the word is supposed to mean and frequently does not.

Worth being precise about what is and is not established. The brand publishes no oil percentage for either bottle, and no concentration label carries a legal definition anywhere. What the stronger version delivers on skin is a question a wear test answers, not a label.

What the premium actually buys

The extrait is the smaller bottle and, per millilitre, by some distance the dearer one. That is normal for the category, and it is worth understanding what you are paying for.

With Mahd Al Dhahab Extrait you are paying for concentration, and nothing else the brand has disclosed. The materials are the same on paper, the structure is the same, and the difference should be how much oil sits in the alcohol.

Which makes the decision unusually clean. If you have worn the eau de parfum and wanted more of it, Mahd Al Dhahab Extrait is the straightforward answer. If you have not tried either, the 100 ml eau de parfum is the cheaper way to find out whether the composition suits you at all.

Mahd Al Dhahab is a real place

The name behind Mahd Al Dhahab Extrait is not invented. Mahd adh Dhahab means cradle of the gold in Arabic, and it is a town and mining district in Medina Province, in the Hijaz region of Saudi Arabia.

It is one of the oldest gold-working sites in the world. Gold was first mined in Arabia around the thirtieth century BC. The area saw a second major phase under the Abbasid Caliphate, between 750 and 1258. Modern commercial mining began there in 1936.

For a fragrance built on amber, vanilla and warm woods, naming Mahd Al Dhahab Extrait after an ancient Saudi goldfield is a considered choice. It also explains the gold in the presentation, which otherwise reads as generic luxury signalling.

Who Mahd Al Dhahab Extrait suits

Mahd Al Dhahab Extrait suits cooler evenings, on someone who likes fruit and amber warmth but not a straightforward sweet gourmand. The clary sage and cypress give it a dry herbal spine that keeps the berries and vanilla in check.

Mahd Al Dhahab Extrait suits an existing owner of the eau de parfum better than a newcomer, because the cheaper bottle answers the same question for less. Anyone who dislikes herbal or green notes should test before buying, since the heart is the part that divides opinion.
