Haji Ajmal Ali was a rice farmer's son in Assam, India. Moreover, he walked into the jungle to collect agarwood because he heard Kuwaitis and Saudis paid well for it in Mumbai. In 1951, he took Rs 500 roughly six dollars and opened a shop in Crawford Market. Furthermore, that shop grew into the only vertically integrated perfume company in the entire GCC. Ajmal grows its own agarwood. It distils its own oils. It manufactures 150,000 bottles per day in a 150,000 square foot Dubai factory. It sells through 350 owned showrooms across 60 countries. 

Consequently, no other Arabian house controls the full chain from tree to shelf. His son Fakhruddin opened the first Dubai store in 1976 at Murshid Bazaar. Three generations later, grandson Abdulla Ajmal runs the operation. However, the family still allocates 10% of net profits to healthcare, education, and orphanages every year.
