The Anfar family started trading agarwood in Assam, India in 1950. Moreover, Haji Anfar Ali and his wife Samsun Nehar built the business from raw oud before perfumery was even part of the plan. Their son Mostaque moved the operation to the GCC in 1995. Furthermore, Adyan launched in 2019 as the family's modern EDP line. The perfumers are family members. Ahmedullah Anfar and Obaidullah Anfar create the compositions themselves. 

Consequently, this is one of the few Arabic fragrance brands where the founding family and the perfumers are the same people. The catalogue now holds 75 compositions across eight collections including Cashmere Series, Pastels of Arabia, and Tropical Delights. However, the real heritage sits in oud.
